it myself, but have had problems running more than one instance at a
time, on different ports. (I have a Stallion Easy Connection 16 port
serial device on my Linux box - $20AUD on eBay - lets me run both ports
of my STK500, my 1-Wire bus, UPS monitoring and much more.)

To operate with any ease on more than one port, I would use ckermit.
Like minicom, it is a command line programme, but runs quite happily in
Konsole or xterm.
