[PHP-DEV] PHP development environment

I'm curious about this too. I've been developing on a Mac using nanofrom the command line and it can be pretty tough. Any and all detailswelcome. I'm about to set up a 64-bit box with Ubuntu which would be myprimary dev box. I also have a windows desktop. On 1/14/2011 5:40 PM, Martin Scotta wrote:Hi all,

Depending on the duration of development, I either use nano for short edits,
or zend studio for a large project. Both cases, I use Ubuntu.

This is the wrong mailing list, this is about development of the PHP runtime
and not towards development using PHP.

Yes, my question was about the internal development of PHP.

How do you guys develop the core of PHP?

Which IDE or text editor do you use?
How do you launch the compiler?
Are you able to debug the PHP core while it's running some PHP script?

Hi!I'm just starting with the internal PHP development.
Do you have some sort of common development environment? Eclipse project or
the like?If you use eclipse, I personally just loaded whole PHP source dir intoEclipse C/C++ project and it seems to be quite fine with it. No build ofcourse, but it's easy enough from command line (buildconf, configure, make, you're done) and if you absolutely must I'm sure there's a way todo it in eclipse too...--
