django & dreamhost

i just tried to install django on dreamhost using the tutorial onhttp://wiki.dreamhost.com/index.php/Django.

some questions:
it says "Create django-admin.fcgi in the same directory, with the same
contents, but change myproject.settings.main to
myproject.settings.admin" ... BUT, there is no myproject.settings.main
in django.fcgi - so i just used myproject.settings for both django.fcgi
and django-admin.fcgi (right?).

404:
when trying to go tohttp://mydreamhostserver.com/django-admin.fcgi/admin/orhttp://mydreamhostserver.com/django.fcgii get ERROR 404.

I don't have any real help for you, but I suspect that those instructions were made against an older version of Django.  Since that time, several backwardsincompatible changes have been made that will probably impede your progress.Perhaps there is someone who could cleanup the DH instructions to match a more recent version of Django? On 11/14/05,patrickk<> wrote:i just tried to install django on dreamhost using the tutorial onhttp://wiki.dreamhost.com/index.php/Django.some questions:it says "Create django-admin.fcgi in the same directory, with the samecontents, but change

Django no longer uses separate settings files and FCGI dispatchers for
the admin and the main application; ignore the bits which talk about
doing separate things for the admin, and see how it works.

I couldn't find this text in DreamHost Wiki page. Are you sure you don't
have some caching system playing tricks on you? AFAIK, this page was updated
long time ago to reflect the Admin change. I found exactly one
django-admin.fcgi reference ("chmod 755 django.fcgi djang-admin.fcgi") and
corrected it.

Thanks,

Eugene
