Hello all,

I tried to compile Gtk2+-2.8.6 on a RedHat Ent3 WS Linux but without succes.
The output of the configuration scripts is the following:

Could anybody help me, please??
I attach the config.log part related to this error.

libpangocairo-1.0.so: undefined reference to `pango_fc_font_map_cache_clear'

I have all these ENV variable set and I had compiled cairo withs
--prefix=/usr/local param, after
that I compiled pango with the same param and still doesn't work :(.

Any other idea??
Thanks.

Hi,

With what prefix have you built cairo on your system ? In case, you didnot
give any prefix while
building cairo, it will by default take /usr/local.So you need to set some
environment variables
for gtk to pick up newly builtcairo.

Do this:

export PKG_CONFIG_PATH=/usr/local/lib/pkgconfig:$PKG_CONFIG_PATH
export LD_LIBRARY_PATH=/usr/local/lib:$LD_LIBRARY_PATH
export PATH=/usr/local/bin:$PATH

And then if possible checkout a fresh copy of gtk+ and build it from scratch.

I have assumed that /usr/local is the prefix taken for cairo, if it is
somethingelse, you have to
set your environment variables accordingly..

Regards,
Archana.

Hi robert,Iv'e just managed to build 2.8.6 myself and found that I needed thelatest version of cairo athttp://cairographics.orgit has to compiledB4 compiling pango. When pango configure finds the proper version ofcairo it will then automatically buildlibpangocairo. Even if your'e sure you're doing things right, whenrunning configure take a moment to check which components pango is awareof or supporting. And if you see cairo listed you might try checkingwith configure --help to find out which environment variables need totweaked for pango configure to find cairo.Hope this makes sense/helps,

John
